Seriously into fashion is how we'd describe Estelle Pigault, who has loved style since forever and decided to make the industry her field. After a decade spent in London where she started her career, first as a department store buyer then as a personal shopper, Estelle has now been living in Paris for three years and has just opened her own multibrand store in the Saint-Honoré neighbourhood.
The most significant fight you've had in your life?
The first challenge because it was a fundamental choice: leaving the family home to go to London with just my baccalaureate in my pocket. I had to learn how to be an independent young woman in the space of a few weeks, to work, to pay bills and rent. It wasn’t easy but I had such a rage to succeed, to prove to those around me that I was capable of doing what I wanted. With hindsight, those were just tiny issues.
Are we all a mix of shadows and light?
I think my dark side is also my light one. I am always ready to fight because life is a constant fight where you can’t let anything slip. This desire to manage everything myself can also create a boundary and scare off people.
The moment you reveal your strength most vividly?
I have very strong opinions and I defend what I believe in. I love to learn from others but when I am right or am convinced I can bring something to the table, I tend to make myself heard loud and clear. It has cost me a few jobs but it has also allowed me to understand that freelancing is where I’d thrive. I’ve always believed in myself and it’s my greatest strength. It can seem very banal but if I don’t believe in myself, who will?
Everyone has a statement guiding their path. What's yours?
See the silver lining, even in the worst moments of life.
Mind Upload is the beginning of our heroine’s story which will be revealed in september.
If you could augment yourself, what abilities would you expand?
To be able to teleport to the universe where my mother is at peace, or just have the ability to converse with her.
Enchantress, witches or simply magical thinking: if you could reshape the future with the wave of a wand, what would you do?
When I was younger, I wanted to change so many things in my life, but as I got older, I learned to accept myself and my life the way it is. Except a couple millions in my bank account, I wouldn’t change much!
Never give up: What would you say to your best friend or child?
Don't ever give up on happiness! So many people are afraid of losing it that they’d rather not experience it.
The best achievement in your career?
To have opened my own store, to have been my own boss for years and never have anyone else to answer to but myself.
